Topic: Automating Consumer Eligibility Determination for the Affordable Care Act using
Electronic Document Management, RPA, and AI/ML.
Speaker: Mr. Robert B. Weiner (AWS-CCP)
PDU: 1.0 – Business Acumen
Presentation Abstract:

The implementation of the US Affordable Care Act (ACA) has enabled millions of Americans to gain access to health insurance, addressing coverage gaps that previously left many without healthcare. However, before coverage is granted, eligibility issues often arise that must be resolved. Serco, the eligibility determination contractor for the ACA, is responsible for managing and resolving these issues.

This presentation will explore the critical role Serco plays in processing millions of pages of consumer-submitted documentation each year. It will focus on how advanced technologies such as Optical Character Recognition (OCR), Robotic Process Automation (RPA), and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) are leveraged to automate and streamline the eligibility determination process. Attendees will gain insights into how these innovative solutions drive efficiency, reduce manual intervention, and enhance the accuracy of eligibility assessments, ultimately helping to deliver timely health insurance coverage to consumers.

Project managers will learn how these automation techniques integrate into large-scale operations, addressing the challenges of high-volume data processing while ensuring compliance and quality standards in the healthcare sector.
