Are you tired of managing employees who seem to constantly push boundaries, challenge the status quo, and question established processes? What if I told you that these very traits, often perceived as problematic in a traditional project environment, are the very ingredients that can fuel entrepreneurial success? This presentation will explore the surprising connection between disruptive employee behaviors and the skills needed to thrive as an entrepreneur. We’ll dissect common “problem employee” characteristics like risk-taking, nonconformity, and relentless questioning, and reframe them as valuable assets in the entrepreneurial landscape.
Designed specifically for mid-level project managers in the PMI Montgomery County MD Chapter, this session will provide actionable insights into recognizing and potentially nurturing entrepreneurial potential within your teams. We’ll discuss how to identify individuals who possess the drive, creativity, and resilience to break free from conventional structures and forge their own paths. Ultimately, you’ll gain a fresh perspective on managing “problematic” employees, understand how to channel their energy productively, and perhaps even identify future entrepreneurs hiding in plain sight within your projects.
- Identify and Reframe “Problematic” Employee Traits: Participants will be able to recognize common disruptive behaviors exhibited by employees (e.g., risk-taking, challenging authority, questioning processes) and reframe them as potential entrepreneurial strengths.
- Understand the Link Between Disruptive Behaviors and Entrepreneurial Skills: Participants will be able to articulate the connection between seemingly negative employee traits and the core skills required for entrepreneurial success, such as innovation, problem-solving, and resilience.
- Recognize Entrepreneurial Potential Within Project Teams: Participants will be able to identify individuals within their project teams who demonstrate entrepreneurial tendencies and understand how to assess their potential for future business ventures.
- Develop Strategies for Managing and Channeling Entrepreneurial Energy: Participants will be able to apply practical strategies for managing employees with entrepreneurial aspirations, fostering their creativity, and channeling their energy productively within the project environment, even if they ultimately pursue ventures outside the organization.
