CALLING FOR VOLUNTEERS!
Sponsored by Project Management for Change, the Regional PM Day of Service (PMDOS) brings together local project management professionals and nonprofit organizations to tackle the nonprofits’ most critical challenges so that they can increase their impact. This year’s event will take place on Monday, February 17 (Presidents’ Day) at the Stamp Student Union at UMD, College Park.
PMDOS events provide nonprofits with pro bono (free, professional) project management services to help them address their most difficult challenges. We do this by bringing together local project managers (PM volunteers) with nonprofits who are passionate about serving their communities. The PM volunteers help the nonprofits to scope and plan projects that enable the nonprofits to do more to serve their communities.
Each nonprofit is paired with a team of experienced project managers through a “matching” process. Additional subject matter experts (SMEs) from various professions (e.g., marketing, finance, technology, etc.) may also be available for consultation as needed. Project managers and nonprofit representatives spend one or more days (depending on the location of the event) scoping and planning a project to address a critical need of the nonprofit, and the nonprofit leaves with an actionable plan.
