Presenter Bio: Bruce Gay, PMP, has over 20 years of experience managing programs and customer relationships across healthcare Information Technology, telecommunications, and defense industries. Currently a Senior Program Manager at UPMC Enterprises (the commercialization arm of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center), Bruce manages a multi-million dollar program to develop the next generation of Radiology Informatics systems. Over the past 13 years, he has managed creative teams that incorporated UX Design & Design Thinking methodologies into their product development processes.Bruce has presented at both regional and international conferences, including the PMI Global Conferences in Chicago, Los Angeles, Dublin, Ireland, Netherlands, and Jamaica. Bruce lives in Pittsburgh, PA with his wife, two daughters, and his dog. Bruce is an active volunteer with the PMI Pittsburgh chapter and the Director of Corporate Sponsorship. Bruce shares his experiences around Design Thinking and publishes a monthly “Project Management Insights” briefing from his website
Presentation Abstract: Given the number and diversity of people affected, deploying or upgrading clinical IT infrastructure is never easy. Proper change management is critical to ensure a positive user experience and acceptance of a new system. This presentation will focus on the deployment of a large hospital IT system and the development of a scalable, repeatable strategy for site readiness and change management for go-lives with a focus on operational success as well as product acceptance.
Learning Objectives: After attending this presentation, you will be able to: 1. Relate the importance of proper change management for complex IT projects 2. Describe the change management process and its key phases 3. Examine tools and techniques to ease user adoption of IT changes
