Presentation Abstract:
Proposal management is a form of project or portfolio management. In this presentation, drawing
on a combination of my own experience and the scholarly research and literature on proposal
development, Dr. Sokolow will concretely identify the major challenges in managing proposals and how Proposal Managers try to address them.
Presentation Biography:
Dr. Jayme A. Sokolow the founder, owner, and president of The Development Source, LLC, a
Washington, DC metropolitan area company that helps businesses, nonprofits, and government
agencies develop proposals, primarily to federal, state, and local government agencies.
Over the last 20 years, he has managed and been involved in successful proposal efforts totaling
more than 50 billion potential dollars as a Proposal Manager, Volume Manager, and Proposal
Writer. Dr. Sokolow has supported over 100 proposals since 1991, for small, medium, large, and
8(a) and minority-owned businesses. He has managed large proposal teams and multiple projects
simultaneously.
He also has successfully worked with many nonprofit organizations. Over the past two decades,
he has helped over 50 nonprofit organizations raise more than $1 billion in grants, contracts, and
cooperative agreements. He has published over a dozen articles on proposal development in Entrepreneur magazine, Washington Business Journal, Digital Communities, Journal of the Grant Professional Association, and Proposal Management.
He received the Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP)’s Vision Award in
2001 and the Fellows Award in 2003. Dr. Sokolow also is the author of three eBooks on proposal development and the traits and values of successful proposal professionals.
