This session highlights how project managers can harness these for their own and their team’s success.\n\n\n\n\nWhat makes some people more successful than others? Can it be something as simple as having a different mindset? Three success mindsets will be highlighted in this session. Real examples of the mindsets of perspective\, passion and purpose contributing to success will be provided. This interactive session will encourage audience members to measure their own mindsets and will show the direct link to their success as project managers. Successful individuals also tend to utilize the success accelerators of preparation\, positivity and perseverance. Real examples of successful individuals utilizing these items will be provided along with activities for audience members to strengthen their own accelerators. How these accelerators can directly contribute to the role of a project manager will also be outlined. SUMMARY:September 2019 Project Showcase (Featuring Ms. Linda Howard)
DESCRIPTION:Project Showcase Topic: Working with Humans: Using the DiSC® Approach for Stronger Teamwork \nProject Showcase Presenter: Ms. Linda Howard (PMP\, CMC) \nPresenter Website: https://howardconsultingllc.com/ \nPresentation Abstract: \nJoin us to hear Linda Howard talk about using the DiSC® model to improve teamwork. \nEvery day\, many of us wake up in the morning and interact with other humans in our homes and in our work. Humans are imperfect! We’re unpredictable! Yet – we interact with each other every single day. Often there are people on your team or in your organization that you just don’t “get”. Maybe it’s someone who approaches everything so differently from you that you struggle to have even a simple conversation. \nOur lives are greatly influenced by the relationships we share with other humans. The quality of our relationships has a direct impact on how we feel about our day\, our week\, our lives\, and sometimes even ourselves. And improving our relationships with those we work with can have a direct and positive impact on how much we enjoy our work\, our motivation to do good work and our effectiveness. Have you ever wished you had your own survival guide just to communicate with the various types of individuals we see and talk with each day? A “Tips” manual might be helpful – something that could offer clues to the unique personalities and behaviors people exhibit.Having a framework or model through which to view the interaction is certainly a start. \nThe DiSC® model is a simple\, yet powerful model\, that describes four basic behavioral styles that help us better understand the dynamics of certain relationships and develop strategies for improving our interactions with our colleagues and teams. \nPresentation Learning Objectives: \n• Learning the key characteristics of the behavioral styles that make up the DiSC® model\n• Identifying your own style and exploring how your style influences your priorities at work\n• Discovering similarities and differences among the DiSC® styles \nPresentation Biography: \nLinda Howard\, of Howard Consulting LLC\, focuses her energies and passions on helping nonprofit leaders improve the performance of their projects and teams so they can build stronger businesses and have greater impact. Linda joined the PMI-Montgomery County Chapter in 2015 after being a member of PMI Global since 2004. \nLinda uses project management concepts in conjunction with the Everything DiSC Workplace® behavior assessment as tools for building stronger teams who get better results from their projects. Through seminars\, workshops\, and facilitated meetings and retreats\, she helps teams better understand each other\, build more effective work relationships\, and achieve better results from their projects and programs. Her clients often share that they are able to communicate more effectively\, start projects faster\, and get them back on track before they go off the rails. \nLinda is Immediate Past President of the Board of Directors for the National Capital Region chapter of the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC). She is also a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and a Project Management Professional (PMP). \nOn a personal note\, Linda is absolutely in love with the outdoors and can often be found wandering in the woods\, kayaking on a lazy river\, or searching for a quiet place to enjoy the next sunset.
