SUMMARY:October 2022 PMI-MC Monthly Chapter Event
DESCRIPTION:PMI-Montgomery County MD Chapter October 2022 Monthly Evening Event\nWednesday\,  October 5th\, 2022\n\n\nIn-Person Member Dinner Price: $10.00\nIn-Person  Non-Member Dinner Price: $40.00\nVirtual Member  / Non Member Price: $0.00\n\n\nTopic: ““Is your project healthy? Stories from Pharmaceutical Project Management”\nPDU: 1.0 – Business Acumen\nPresentation Download: PMIOctober22Presentation (Click to download)\n\nPresenter: Dr. Bradford Powell\, PhD\, PMP (Founder & CEO of Cernomics Solutions)\nPresenter Website: https://cernomics.com/Home_Page.html\n\nWe understand that our event date conflicts with the Yom Kippur High Holiday. Attempts were made to work with the scheduling so all observing members could still attend our session. We apologize that we were not successful with the re-scheduling. To accommodate everyone\, we will have the meeting recording posted on our YouTube Channel immediately after and will provide the Self-Claim Code for PDU processing to all. G’mar chatima tova! \n\nPresentation Abstract:\n\n No plan survives contact with reality; the best laid plans often go awry for mice\, men\, and project managers! While managing scope\, schedule\, cost\, inputs\, outputs\, risks\, and reports there is some point where a project shows signs of a need for more care. We have all faced the churn of stakeholder misalignments\, re-work of project adjustments\, or heartbreak of under-performance. Indeed\, the agile methodology arose as a solution to the limitations and losses of waterfall style\, command-and-control project management. However\, agile is not suited for all projects. Where it does apply\, it is not a guaranteed prevention and cure. All projects have fundamental challenges of which a Project Manager should be aware\, diagnose\, and treat.  \nIn this session of the PMI Montgomery County MD Chapter evening event series\, we will explore some root causes and solutions to common troubles that plague projects. The focus will be on communications\, assumptions\, and culture\, as told from consulting projects in the pharmaceuticals industry. The intent is to revisit concepts of business acumen to strengthen management tools in trying to answer the questions: Is my project healthy? Can a project be immunized against common ailments? \n\nPresenter Bio:  \nBradford Powell is the Founder and CEO of Cernomics Solutions providing project management support and technical quality consulting in the Bio-Pharmaceuticals and Life Sciences areas. Through more than 30 years in industry\, government and university\, Brad’s experience includes managing projects in the life sciences for basic research and development\, science program and product project management\, bio/pharmaceutical product manufacturing\, testing\, and quality compliance.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation:\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThat’s Amore Restaurant\, 15201 Shady Grove Rd #1\, Rockville\, MD 20850  (Downstairs Banquet Entrance) \nSimulcast delivered via Zoom \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSCHEDULE OF EVENTS \nSocial Hour/Registration Opens @ 5:30pm \nDinner Service Begins NLT 6:45pm \nZoom Room Opens @ 7:15pm \nChapter Business Remarks No Earlier Than @ 7:30pm \nDr. Powell’s Presentation w/ Q&A to follow – 7:40pm \n\nProgram concludes No Later Than @ 9:00pm\n\nNOTICE: The webinar will be recorded and available for viewing and PDU Self-Reporting. In essence\, people are the bedrock of all organizations\, upon which talent management and all other company enablers rests. Mr. Taylor and Ms. Somerville will share the top talent management concepts\, and encourage\nparticipants like you to take the necessary action to spearhead your professional talent management initiative for your individual gain\, while promoting talent management\nthroughout your company for its organizational gain.Lastly\, Michael and Adrienne will also convey the need to not only understand talent\nmanagement but the data and its organizational value.
