POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Chapter President is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for both the chapter and of the Board of Officers. Duties that are to be performed are ensuring all required appointments with the majority approval of the board, as well as delegation approval of all chapter tasks and activities, the facilitation of 2x/annually board meetings and to be the accountable face of the chapter.
BIOGRAPHY: In the midst of a 20+ year career as an IT Professional, Matt currently is a public servant leading the Air Force’s Talent Management Digital Transformation effort within AF HQ / A1 Directorate serving as the Branch Chief for the Technology & Innovation Branch. Born and raised in the great state of Iowa, Matt served 8 years in the Marine Corps prior to embarking on an 11 year trek in industry as an IT/Knowledge Management Consultant for HQ commands for the Navy, TSA and the EPA. Matt began his service to the PMI Montgomery County, MD Chapter in 2016 as the VP of Communication. He resides in the great state of Maryland with his significant other, 3 stellar stepsons and two of the best canines in the state.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: MBA, Masters of Science in IT Project Management, Project Management Professional (PMP) Earned & Maintained since 2015, PMI-Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) Earned & Maintained since 2017. Multiple Service Management (ITIL) and Quality Management valid certifications
FUN FACT: Prior to earning any industry certifications, Matt earned his first certification as a Certified Professional Clown in the early 2000s. If you need a Balloon Animal at a chapter event, seek him out!
Gene Egry, PMP
BOARD OFFICER POSITION: VP TREASURY AND FINANCE

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Vice President of Treasury and Finance shall oversee the management of funds for duly authorized purposes of the CHAPTER.
BIOGRAPHY: Eugene (Gene) Egry is a native of Allentown, Pennsylvania. He moved to Maryland in 2004 to pursue a career opportunity at GEICO Insurance Company. He married his wife, Lisa, in 2009. Lisa is a Special Education Teacher at the Linwood Center in Ellicott City, MD. She is a Lt Col in Civil Air Patrol where she serves as the Commander of the Fort McHenry Composite Squadron in Maryland. They enjoy spending time with their two dogs Tiki and Molly (both rescues).
Gene is an Information Technology professional with over 35 years of experience. Semi-retired today, he serves as the Commander of Civil Air Patrol’s Mid-Atlantic Region, serving in this role since October 2022. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science from Lehigh County Community College, a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Kutztown University. He served as an adjunct instructor at DeSales University where he taught undergraduate computer science courses for 10 years. He earned his Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute in 2004. Shortly after moving to Maryland in 2004, he joined the Montgomery County Chapter of PMI. In 2005, he became the Vice President of Membership and served in that position until December 2013. In 2015, he was elected to the role of Chapter Vice President of Treasury and Finance where he served until 2021 and returned to the role in 2023. He served as the Chapter President from January 2021 to January 2023, and again from January 2024 to May 2024

FUN FACT: Mr. Egry’s passion is volunteer service and teaching. He enjoys spending time with the cadet and senior members of Civil Air Patrol where he shares his experience and knowledge to grow them as leaders

The Vice President of Education and Certification is responsible for promoting Project Management Professionalism through the development of educational publications, seminars, and workshops designed to help Project Management Professionals achieve and maintain PMI certification such as the Project Management Professionals (PMP’s).
Karen Trebon (PMP)

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Vice President of Communications is responsible for the CHAPTER’s member communication, web site, LinkedIn communications network, and other chapter communications as needed.
BIOGRAPHY: Ms. Karen Trebon has been in the Project Managment industry since 2002 in her role with the General Services Administration (GSA), earning her PMP certification in 2012. Ms. Trebon has been an active member of the Chapter since 2011 and took on a leadership role with the board in 2022
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION: Masters of Science; Project Management Professional (PMP) Earned & Maintained since 2012, Certified Contractor Officer’s Representative (COR)
FUN FACT: Ms. Trebon recently represented the Chapter at the 2023 PMI Global Summit in Atlanta, GA.

The 2 Vice President(s) of Programs are responsible for the development and delivery of programs relating to project management for each scheduled CHAPTER meeting. The content of these programs is to be consistent and in accordance with the objectives of the CHAPTER and with approval of the CHAPTER Board. Due to the work involved, and the critical need for this work in order for the CHAPTER to be successful, it has been determined best to have two VPs of Programs working together as a team.
