Presentation Abstract:
The incidences of cyber security attacks continue to grow daily. The ubiquitous nature of cyber-attacks and social engineering makes it mandatory that everyone should be educated and informed. As a project manager, you should have a working knowledge of these issues and terminologies including malware, spyware, adware, scareware, spam, phishing, vishing, whaling, Trojan horse, virus, worm, crypto malware, Backdoor, key logger, DDoS, spoofing, dumpster diving, shoulder surfing, Ransomware and Chain of Custody.  A project manager should also be able to manage the plethora of projects involving data breaches, end user education, development of security policies and network hardening.

What participants/attendees will learn?
The participants will: (1) Demonstrate understanding of cyber security terminologies; (2) Identify social engineering techniques; (#) Examine their own attitudes towards cyber security; and (4) Develop an understanding of various forms of cyber-attacks to be better able to advise their stakeholders; and (5) Manage a project involving breach, end user education, development of security policies or network hardening.

Presentation Plan:
Presentation will be in PowerPoint format with facilitated open discussion plus question and answer. Room setup should be theatre/classroom style.

Presenter Bio: Prof. Alex O. Akpodiete has degrees in Computer Science, Cybersecurity and Law. He has over 33 years’ experience in technology, having worked as a programmer for the State of Florida and Systems Analyst for Price Waterhouse Coopers, U.S. Federal government contractor through Leidos, Dell, and Insight Global. He is currently a Subject Matter Expert for Information Technology at a higher institution under a multi-million dollar US government grant. Also, he teaches and consults on various areas of IT, including serving as a curriculum reviewer for Cybersecurity and IT courses for the State of Maryland Higher Education Commission. Dr. Akpodiete is Trainer, Speaker, and Author and has travelled to over 29 countries, He is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and holds many industry certifications including ITIL, CompTIA IT Fundamentals, A+, Security+, Cloud Essentials, Cisco CCENT and Certified Professional in Health Information management Systems (CPHIMS). He is the CEO of Atawa Group LLC and a member of various technology associations world-wide.
